Event Info
The exquisite full length ballet ”Giselle” will be presented at the magical Quarry Amphitheatre at 8.30pm from Wed 14th to Sat 17th Jan 2009.
The role of Giselle will be performed by guest artist Tatiana Pevneva. The role of Albrecht will be performed by guest artist – courtesy of West Australian Ballet – Sergey Pevnev and the role of the Queen of the Wilis by guest artist - courtesy of West Australian Ballet - Jennifer Loth.
The poignant story tells of a young peasant girl who is betrayed by her lover. There follows the famous mad scene culminating in her death.
Act Two is set in the graveyard where Albrecht comes to mourn his lost love. He is confronted by the Queen of the Wilis who commands that he must die. Giselle implores the Queen to save his life, she capitulates, but says they must dance until morning or he will die. The exhausted lovers manage to dance until the sun rises, however Giselle then disappears, never to return.
Bring a picnic and enjoy a wonderful evening of pure classical ballet.
