Event Info

Rossini, in this opera, has put together one of the best night's entertainment in the literature. The Barber of Seville sparkles with vivacious fun from beginning to end through music of breathtaking pace and virtuosity: this comedy is not only of situation and manners, but is born of a profound grasp of humanity, of its foibles, weaknesses and absurd, but nevertheless very real, predicaments.

It is so full of love - of affection for the human race - that it will engage audiences for as long as we retain the capacity to laugh at ourselves - an ability essential to civilisation.

Sung in Italian with English surtitles.
